As anticipation grows for the dual continental and national challenge, on Monday, April 20, the historic rally organized by the Automobile Club Sassari will be presented to authorities, media, and sponsors at the Hotel Cala di Volpe. Just a few hours before closing, registrations are close to 150 crews.
Porto Cervo, April 16, 2026 – The countdown is moving fast toward the ninth edition of the Costa Smeralda Historic Rally – Martini Trophy, and another piece is about to take its place in the mosaic of the race: on Monday, April 20, right at the beginning of the key week for the event organized by the Automobile Club Sassari, the presentation conference to authorities, media, and sponsors will be held, an event that will be hosted in the exclusive and prestigious setting of the Hotel Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo, starting at 11:00 AM.
Among the already confirmed speakers, in addition to the president of ACI Sassari Giulio Pes di San Vittorio, there will be the two-time world rally champion, Tiziano Siviero, along with representatives of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipalities of Arzachena and Olbia together with their fellow Mayors of all the territories crossed by the rally, as well as the commercial partners who have always supported the Costa Smeralda Historic Rally project, figures to whom the President extends his heartfelt thanks right now.
With registrations open for just a few more hours, as they will close at midnight on Friday, April 17, the historic rally, classic rally, and regularity rally are in full swing, and the numbers reached at the moment trace the path for an edition where competition and spectacle will certainly not be lacking. One of the stimuli for the many admirers of the Costa Smeralda special stages will be the comparison with Jari-Matti Latvala, reigning European historic car champion and three-time runner-up in the WRC; the Finnish driver has already finalized his registration and will be at the wheel of the Toyota Celica ST185, acting as a driving force for a large group of foreign drivers already present on the provisional entry list.
In addition to its validity for the European Historic Rally Championship for cars built up to and including 1992, the 9th Costa Smeralda Historic Rally – Martini Trophy will also be the second act of the Italian Historic Car and Classic Car Rally Championship; it will also host the contenders of the A112 Abarth Yokohama Trophy and the participants in the Memory Fornaca. Also of note is the importance of the Historic Regularity Rally, which will kick off the 2026 edition of the Italian Championship for the two categories “average 50” and “average 60”.
