Always tied to the world of competitions and rallies, the German manufacturer will support the highly anticipated event organized by the Automobile Club Sassari, which will take place on April 24 and 25, showing the new Opel Mokka GSE in an Italian premiere and making the service vehicles available
Porto Cervo, April 23, 2026 – Among the many pieces that go into making up the vast mosaic of the organization of a rally, one of those of indispensable value is constituted by the cars for the use of the service personnel on the days of the race.
Thanks to an agreement with the Autoplus Group, at the Costa Smeralda Historic Rally it will be precisely the cars of the Rüsselsheim brand, the vehicles that will be used by the organizing staff of the race and by other figures, such as technical and sporting commissioners, and supervisors.
But the participants in this important event and the spectators will be able to admire on display for the first time in Italy the sporty model of the German manufacturer’s range, the Opel Mokka GSE, during the days of April 14 and 25 in Porto Cervo.
Opel Mokka GSE, the latest model in a very vast and very long history of Opel sports cars, is capable of expressing a maximum power of 281 electric HP. Thanks to the immediate torque and a highly leveled technical sector, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 s. In order to effectively discharge so much power to the ground, Opel Mokka GSE fields elements of the rally version such as the Torsen multi-disc limited-slip differential, as well as the chassis with specially designed axles and new hydraulic shock absorbers. All the high-voltage components of the road-going Opel Mokka GSE, such as the motor, the inverter, the battery and the wiring, come from the Opel Mokka GSE Rally. The steering, the chassis and the brakes have also been designed to be particularly sporty and optimized thanks to Opel’s experience in electric rally.
Always one of the symbol brands of Motorsport since the dawn of the specialty, Opel has raced and won in all fields and many of the successes, even world championship ones, have come from road racing. It is therefore with enthusiasm that the Autoplus Group has decided to support the Automobile Club Sassari in the organizational machine of the event that this year also debuts on the prestigious international stage of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship, namely the European Championship reserved for cars built up to and including 1992, a segment where the historic Opel models will be among the protagonists of the rally that will be raced on the days of Friday 24 and Saturday 25 April with Porto Cervo as the race venue.
Strong is the interest shown by the top management of the brand, as can be seen from the testimonies of Giorgio Vinciguerra, Managing Director of Opel Italy and Maurizio Bormetti, Marketing Director of Opel Italy:
“Motorsport has always been in Opel’s DNA – declared Giorgio Vinciguerra – and our first triumph dates back to March 1901, when Heinrich Opel won the hill climb race on the Königstuhl near Heidelberg, in Germany, with a modified Motorwagen. Since that victory we have never stopped and we still continue today”.
“After having participated and won in the most diverse championships – echoes Maurizio Bormetti – from the European and World Rally up to the circuit races with Formula Opel, Formula 3, the German Touring Car Masters (DTM) and the International Touring Car Championship (ITC), we are now engaged in the electric Rally with Opel Mokka and soon we will enter the Formula E world championship. The connection with Motorsport is in our blood and the one with electrification is in our logo”.
In addition to the Opel Mokka GSE, the new Opel Corsa, Grandland and Frontera engaged in the upcoming Costa Smeralda Historic Rally – Martini Trophy, besides the precious service provided, will know how to earn the attention of the public and of the “insiders” with their appeal.
Grateful for the significant and important agreement stipulated with Autoplus, the president of ACI Sassari, Giulio Pes di San Vittorio, takes the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Group’s management.
